How the light and color of Tossa de Mar change

Constant changes of lights and colors on the Mar Menuda beach in Tossa de Mar with rough waves and cloudy skies on this autumn weekend, as seen in La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos.

The walls of Tossa de Mar seem to want to become a parapet that protects this town from the ravages of the storm.

As the light of the day changes, the walled complex also changes in appearance and color, although it remains unchanged over time.

Tossa de Mar stands to the east of the coastal sector of the La Selva region, northeast of Barcelona and southeast of Girona. It is rugged by the Litoral mountain range, which reaches the Mediterranean, creating the rocky landscape of cliffs and small coves, characteristic of the Costa Brava.

The beaches that surround the town to the north and south are magnificent. And the municipality's heritage includes Roman traces, modernist memories and airs of the artistic bohemianism of the avant-garde and also of famous film actors who have passed through here.

The wall of Tossa de Mar is a fortification declared a National Historic-Artistic Monument. We find the only example of a fortified medieval town on the Catalan coast.

The castle was built in 1387 by Abbot Ramón Dezcatlar. The most important events are the attempted pirate raids.
