Citizens and PP have joined the rally in support of Israel that was held this afternoon in the Plaza Sant Jaume in Barcelona, ​​which brought together half a thousand people convened by the Israel Spain Forum Alliance (ISFA) and the Federation of Jewish Youth of Spain (FEJJE).

The deputy and spokesperson for Ciudadanos in the Parliament, Anna Grau, and the leader of the popular ranks in the City Council of the Catalan capital, Daniel Sirera, coincided at the event, in which they showed their solidarity with the Jewish people and to which Gonzalo de Oro, Vox councilor in the City Council, has also attended.

Under the motto "Barcelona for life, with Israel and for the immediate release of the hostages", the concentration has served for Jewish entities to denounce the attack carried out by Hamas last Saturday, after which the Israeli army has subdued Gaza. to a siege that is seen as the previous step to an imminent invasion of the strip.

The protesters have asked that the hostages captured by Hamas not be used as "human shields" by the Palestinian group in its confrontation with the Israeli State and have observed two minutes of silence for the Jewish victims of the conflict, after which the anthem of Israel.

Some of the protesters, carrying Israeli flags, placed candles and bouquets of flowers on the ground and showed banners with the faces of people kidnapped by Hamas. Likewise, they have displayed posters with slogans such as "Hamas is equal to the Islamic State" and another that opposes "resistance" in the face of the "massacre."

Speaking to journalists, Lara Gutman, on behalf of the FEJJE, has shown her solidarity with the Israeli victims and has called for a "rapid deceleration" of the conflict and for the Hamas hostages to be able to return home "as soon as possible."

"These have been very hard days, in which Hamas has demonstrated the level of violence it can reach, with a completely unexpected attack. What happened this week really breaks your soul, and we know that it will take a long time to overcome it," Gutman has indicated.

For her part, the president of the ISFA, Blanca Navarro, thanked the security system for allowing them to celebrate this event without incident, which she considers necessary due to the jihadist threat, and has shown her support for the people of Israel and the families and victims of what he described as a "massacre."

On behalf of Ciudadanos, Anna Grau has expressed her sadness about the situation in Israel and has criticized that the security forces have recommended to the organization of the event that, despite having every right to do so, they should not circulate with Israeli flags and symbols. on public roads: "I don't know if we have to be very proud of this recommendation in a city like Barcelona," he exclaimed.

Likewise, PP councilor Daniel Sirera has criticized the "equidistance" that Barcelona City Council shows in the face of this historic conflict in the Middle East, which has traditionally polarized Spanish society between supporters of Israel or the Palestinian cause, and has questioned that It has taken so long to react when other town halls have already illuminated their facades with the colors of the Israeli flag.

"But we also do not want to make a political issue of this: we want the City Council to say loud and clear that the hostages must be freed, that this barbarity must end and that Hamas must be defeated. That is why we support the people of Israel here in Barcelona, ​​where the Jews have also had a very bad time," Sirera proclaimed.
