Greenpeace gives Almeida a four-meter bouquet for her wedding

The environmental organization Greenpeace and the neighborhood group “No to felling” gave this Friday to the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, a four-meter wedding bouquet made with branches and trunks of trees from pruning and felling. in Madrid, to symbolize their “commitment to the disappearance of the city's trees.”

A dozen activists and neighbors have placed the bouquet at the doors of the Madrid City Hall along with a banner that read “Madrid loves trees. Until logging separates us.”

Elvira Jiménez, representative of Greenpeace, assures that the Madrid City Council is following an “arbolicidal” policy that eliminates trees from the urban fabric of the city. According to the spokesperson, since the beginning of Martínez-Almeida's mayoralty, “55,000 mature trees have been removed from the city of Madrid.”
