'GH VIP8' fails to position itself in its premiere as a pillar to overcome Telecinco's audience

Absent from the grid since December 2019 as a result of the case of sexual harassment by José María López to Carlota Prado, Telecinco recovered Big Brother Vip this Thursday for an eighth edition and as one of the great pillars to regain the lost leadership of the network. However, the reality show did not sweep or even take the lead of the night as it used to do before. It scored 1,106,000 viewers and a 13.4% audience share. He was surpassed by Masterchef Celebrity on La 1 with 1,138,000 and the same share of 13.4% and was closely followed by Joaquín the rookie on Antena 3, which had Ana Obregón as a guest, with 1,019,000 viewers and a 13 % share.

The premiere of GH VIP 8 did not alter the daily audience ranking. Antena 3 led the day in Spain with a 14.4% share, followed by La 1 with 11.3% and Telecinco with 10.6%. Data that does not suggest that the veteran reality show could be one of the pillars to relaunch Telecinco's audience, displaced since July to third position in the ranking.

The 18 participants in this edition for the most part do not offer great appeal to the audience, as can be seen from the comments on social networks. The Argentine journalist Sol Macaluso (the only name previously revealed) was added, among others, the model Jessica Bueno (former partner of Kiko Rivera), the influencer Oriana Marzoli, the Peruvian journalist Laura Bozzo, the water polo player Pedro García Aguado who jumped to fame thanks to the Hermano Mayor program, the singer Karina, the journalist and presenter Carmen Alcayde, María Teresa Campos' driver, Gustavo Guillermo, the artist son of Sara Montiel, Zeus Montiel, and the businesswoman and influencer Marta Castro, Fonsi's wife Grandson.

The premiere of GH VIP 8 has been the one with the least audience in the history of the reality show. The last edition started with 2.5 million (more than double the number of viewers) and a 24.6% share. To date, the one with the lowest audience had been GH VIP 5 in 2017, with 2.2 million, and the one with the most audience, GH VIP1, in 2004, with 4.2 million and 27.7% share.

After this discreet start of GH VIP 8, the new and renewed Telecinco that wants to promote the new management of Mediaset España with its CEO Alessandro Salem at the helm, is now more than ever dependent on Ana Rosa Quintana and her landing in the afternoons from next Monday because the network's other bets such as Cuentos Chinos by Jorge Javier Vázquez and El musical de tu vida with Carlos Sobera have not come to fruition in their premiere this week.

Jorge Javier Vázquez's program has had an average audience in its four days of broadcast of 983,000 viewers (only on the day of its debut it exceeded one million) and an 8.2% share. At the same time, El hormiguero on Antena 3 has continued unbeatable, exceeding two million viewers every day and achieving the best start in its history: 17.4% in its first week and 17.7% in this second week. already direct competition with Chinese Tales. And even the daily series of La 1, 4 stars, has surpassed Jorge Javier Vázquez in viewership on Wednesday and Thursday (on Monday it was 150,000 viewers behind and on Tuesday it was not broadcast because of the Spain-Cyprus soccer match). .

For its part, El musical de tu vida with Carlos Sobera (with Ana Obregón as the first guest) was the third option on Wednesday night with 789,000 viewers and a 9.9% share. It was surpassed by The Floor Antena 3 contest with 952,000 viewers and a 12.1% share and by Lazos de sangre on La 1 dedicated to Julio Iglesias with 842,000 viewers and a 10.5% share. Nor did the premiere of the new season of 'La que se cerca' work on Monday in that "new Telecinco", which did not reach one million viewers: 895,000 and a 10.2% share.

The only bets that are working for Telecinco for now are The critical look with Ana Terradillos and Let's see with Joaquín Prat, the two morning programs that have replaced Ana Rosa's program and that record similar audience data although with a slight decrease from 17.1% to 15.3% on average.
