Garamendi slips that the Government “despises” social dialogue

The president of the CEOE, Antonio Garamendi, has suggested that the latest proposals from the vice president and Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, represent "a contempt for social dialogue." This is how he assessed it this Thursday at the Palau de la Generalitat, after meeting with the president of the Valencian employers' association, CEV, Salvador Navarro, with the vice president Susana Camarero and the president of the Valencian Community, Carlos Mazón.

Garamendi made these statements after being asked about the proposal to cap the salaries of managers and also regarding the reduction of working hours. "That the Minister of Labor is talking about such interventionism as a banana republic puts investments in danger. If we want the managers of this country to leave Spain, if we want to miss the train, spread poverty, then let's play that game... "said the businessman. The tension between employers and the Government is palpable after the approval of the increase in the SMI, this week, only with the agreement of the unions.

Another question was raised about the proposed fine for companies that left Catalonia after the process, to which Garamendi responded that what is missing is "trust." Trust; It is the way for companies to return to Catalonia. There is no need to make laws or anything, it is the return to normality that we would like to see return to Catalonia.

Garamendi has also given his opinion on the proposal made to large companies by President Pedro Sánchez at Sánchez's Davos Forum to combat neoliberal postulates. "The CEOE was born with the Spanish Constitution, our democratic spirit is undoubted," said the head of the Spanish employers' association.

Although the round of questions focused on Spanish current affairs, the visit of the president of the CEOE to Valencia sought to strengthen institutional relations with the new Valencian Government. For his part, President Carlos Mazón has shown "absolute harmony" with the proposals of the business community and has defended that the government has the obligation to address business complaints.

Likewise, Mazón has announced that the Social Dialogue Table in the Valencian Community, where the Executive, unions and employers sit, will meet on January 30 under the coordination of the councilor and vice president Susana Camarero.
