Mayor Josep Madern explains that this is the first time something similar has happened in the municipality, although there have been other police interventions to dismantle marijuana plantations in other nearby towns such as Sant Llorenç de la Muga or Albanyà.

In August of last year, the Mossos d'Esquadra dismantled a plantation valued at 600,000 euros in a high mountain wooded area of Albanyà. More than 2,000 plants were intervened and the two responsible for the cultivation were arrested, who were released a day later with charges.
