Florists estimate more than 6 million roses sold in Sant Jordi

The Guild of Florists of Catalonia has estimated at more than 6 million roses sold on the occasion of Sant Jordi's day, of which 40% correspond to "professional sales" -that is, dispensed in florists or similar- and 60% They have been sold in stalls set up by individuals or entities.

In a statement issued when this festivity is now reaching its final stretch, the florists thus accept the forecasts released by the Mercabarna-Flor Wholesalers Guild, which predicted that more than 6 million roses would be sold.

As a "very positive" note, the florists highlight how the purchase of what they call "signature roses" has consolidated, those created and designed by florists, of which 900,000 units have been sold.

On the contrary, they have censored "the multitude of stalls selling private roses in the city of Barcelona", which generates "an intrusion that does not stop growing and causes the sale of low-quality roses and at bargain prices".

It is for this reason that the union demands "a reflection to size the rose stalls and that these are proportional to the weight of the professional sector."
