Five high-speed trains blocked between Madrid and Barcelona due to a breakdown

Civil Protection of the Generalitat de Catalunya has announced on Twitter that a breakdown is affecting "all high-speed traffic between Barcelona and Madrid". Therefore, the pre-alert phase of the Ferrocat plan has been decreed.

Also according to Civil Protection, there are at least five trains stopped outside the stations due to this situation, which has not specified when it will be considered resolved. At this time, no original trains are leaving pending the re-establishment of a single track.

For its part, Adif has reported a few minutes before 5:40 p.m. that "due to an incident in the infrastructure in Ballobar, the trains that run on the high-speed line between Zaragoza and Barcelona register average delays of 25 minutes."

"Adif technicians are already working to solve it as soon as possible", concluded this first message from the Railway Infrastructure Administrator on Twitter, warning that the incident that is affecting traffic has occurred in Ballobar, in Aragon.

However, a few minutes later, Adif has already specified that "average delays" for trains running on the high-speed line between Zaragoza and Barcelona already amounted to 40 minutes.

It was after 6:00 p.m. when Adif announced that, "promptly", traffic on the Madrid-Barcelona high-speed line is interrupted "due to the incident in the infrastructure in Ballobar", coinciding with the announcement of Civil Protection. "Adif technicians are already working to solve it as soon as possible", ends the message from the Railway Infrastructure Manager.

Travelers of the affected trains are already being informed through all channels of communication and customer service. In addition, Renfe applies "the voluntary punctuality commitment" in which it returns 100% of the amount of the ticket for delays of more than 30 minutes.
