Firefighters detect a second fire in the forest fire in Tivissa (Tarragona)

The Generalitat Fire Brigade announced this Thursday that they have stabilized at 2:07 p.m. the fire that had started around 12:14 p.m. near the Coll de Llumeneres, in the Tarragona town of Tivissa.

But shortly after, around 2:45 p.m., a second focus was detected in the Toa area, a forest area with a few scattered houses. Up to 11 Fire Departments have moved to the place. The aerial means have begun to carry out discharges on the right flank.

According to the press release, the Coll de Llumeneres area was also difficult to access, heavily wooded and with poor communications. Faced with these difficulties, the Firefighters activated up to 30 endowments, 8 of them air.

At about 2:05 p.m., the order was given to the bombers to return to base and at 2:08 p.m., the water lines that delimit the perimeter of the burned area were found, which meant that the first fire was completely surrounded by hoses and water points. According to provisional data from the Rural Agents Corps, the fire affected nearly one hectare.

The body also recalls that today level 2 of the Alpha Plan is activated in 27 counties due to high danger of forest fire. Prudence is called for in any activity in the natural environment that could cause a fire.

Civil Protection of the Generalitat put the Special Emergency Plan for forest fires in Catalonia (INFOCAT) in the Pre-alert phase, yesterday afternoon, Wednesday, given the high risk of forest fire expected for today.
