End to the summer truce: fuels rise again

The average price of fuel has put an end this week to its downward trend of the last two months, which had given drivers a break throughout this summer, and has recovered the increases, with a rebound of up to 3, 6%.

Specifically, the average price of a liter of diesel has risen this week by 3.63%, chaining its second rise, to rise to 1,882 euros. For its part, the average price of a liter of gasoline, which had added nine consecutive weeks of falls, has become more expensive for the first time since the end of June, with an increase of 0.45%, to stand at 1,794 euros, according to data of the European Union Oil Bulletin collected by Europa Press.

This average amount of both fuels includes taxes, but not the discount that came into force since last April 1 of at least 20 cents per liter, since there are higher discounts, depending on the oil company and the promotions for loyal customers. .

Thus, despite this rebound this week, counting on that subsidy, the price of a liter of gasoline would be 1,594 euros, while that of diesel would be 1,682 euros, in both cases clearly lower than those marked at the end March, before the entry into force of the aid: 1,818 euros per liter in the case of gasoline and 1,837 euros for diesel.

In any case, this week both fuels definitively put an end to the downward trend that they had been registering since June, when they cut the upward spiral that they had suffered since the invasion of Ukraine and Russia, and which led them to fall by more than 16%. .

Compared to the same week a year ago, the average price of a liter of gasoline is 27% more expensive, while in the case of diesel it has become 50% more expensive, although without taking into account the discount currently in force.
