Emergency landing to give birth to a new life. At 5 am this Monday, the El Prat airport received a request to land unexpectedly. The reason? a passenger had gone into labor.
Everything happened on flight KLM588, which covered the route between Lagos (Nigeria) and Amsterdam (Netherlands), as reported by the Civil Guard on Wednesday through a statement. The maneuver was accepted by the Barcelona aerodrome.
Agents of the armed institute, together with the airport health services, "accessed the cabin confirming that a passenger was giving birth inside," the Civil Guard reported.
The mother and the newborn were treated on site and later transferred by the emergency services to the Sant Joan de Déu hospital, located in Esplugues de Llobregat. "They are recovering favorably," explained the Civil Guard.
