Ellesmusic celebrates its third edition with the presence of Núria Duran and dj AWWZ

Music and technology go hand in hand this Friday at the Ellesmusic festival, held on the eve of 8-M. As in previous editions, Ellesmusic calls for a greater presence of women and non-binary identities in the world of technology, where there is still a long way to go to achieve gender parity. “We are about to run out of seats” explains Natalia de Jesus, co-director of the festival together with Thais Ruiz de Alda. “We would like the project to be a community one, not just for digitalfems, that would also involve more women in music”.

The Canòdrom de la Meridiana will once again be the home of Ellesmusic, which will have the presence of the singer-songwriter Núria Duran, a resident of Nou Barris, in a duet with the guitarist Deiv (6:00 p.m.) reviewing the experiential themes created during their ten years of career. Their intimate folk music expressed in English and Catalan will bring a warm atmosphere to the opening of the festival.

At night it will be the turn of the dj AWWZ whose work both in the mix and in the production has earned her recognition both in Spain and in Latin America. In July of last year, she published her first album, Ladah Temple, created 100% by women and released alongside the documentary "Women in the Studio", which shows the process of creating the album. An eclectic work with a diversity of styles guided by the hand of AWWZ, who has worked in collaboration with Sonar and UPC researchers.

The AWWZ b2b AI concert (8 pm) will have an original duo format. A specially trained artificial intelligence will analyze YouTube comments to respond to AWWZ's selection of topics. A collaboration that opens the door to reflections on the use of new technologies in the world of music.

Beyond music, Ellesmusic will host the debate "Gender inclusion in artificial intelligence", where six artists will share reflections on technological and algorithmic cultural models and their implications in the music industry. Among the attendees will be the film director and screenwriter Ana Montserrat, the engineer Mireia de Gracia or Cris Checa, a technologist and member of the musical duo Desert.
