The town of El Puig has prohibited bathing on four of its beaches after a granular white substance appeared late yesterday afternoon that has expelled the sea towards the coast.
Thus, the council has made the decision to raise the red flag on the Medicalia, Puig Val, Old Fishermen's Quarter and Els Plans beaches.
The city council has reported that it has contacted 112, Salvamento Marítimo, Generalitat and Aguas de Valencia so that samples can be taken and the origin of this substance analyzed "as quickly as possible" in order to determine if it is a harmful substance.
From the consistory they have indicated that they understand that this situation can be "an inconvenience for lovers of our beaches" but, they have added, "the safety of all is our priority."
In this way, while the relevant investigations are carried out, the beaches will continue to be closed on the recommendation of the experts.
