Discovering the bucolic path of the Baroque

In The Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia we have traveled a very beautiful path, between fields and forests, until we reached the old parish church of the town of La Barroca, located at the top of the mountain range that separates the Vall de Llémena from the Vall d'Hostoles.

To access the Baroque, you have to take the track that starts in Sant Esteve de Llémena and leads to the sanctuary of Santa María de Lena, which enjoys fabulous panoramic views, and further down, you reach the hermitage of San Roc de La Barroca, nestled in the upper part of the cliff of the same name.

The hermitage is a 17th century construction, with a single nave and a rectangular apse. The bell tower, like a tower, has a gabled roof and double openings.

Sant Andreu de la Barroca was built with small stone, except for the corner ashlars. It was formerly used as a rural parish. In the 18th-19th centuries, various reforms were carried out.

To the southeast of Sant Aniol de Finestres is La Barroca, an old town made up of a group of isolated farmhouses, some of which are still inhabited today.

Highlights include the manor house of Brugués, the manor house of Les Basses, as well as Can Terme, Cal Sansaire, la Llobera, Can Buch or el Llapart.
