Díaz warns the PSOE that reforming the LECrim "is not the right direction" to process the amnesty

Yolanda Díaz has broken the silence that, after an intense international agenda - Mexico and Vatican City - and national agenda - electoral campaign in Galicia - she had maintained for days regarding the parliamentary processing of the Amnesty law. And she has done so by warning that the possible reform of the Criminal Procedure Law (LECrim), an option opened by Pedro Sánchez to try to convince Junts, "is not going in the right direction" due to the general impact that it could imply by reducing procedural deadlines.

The leader of Sumar has admitted that she is unaware of "the proposal that is being negotiated", but "due to the information she has" she has insisted on her critical position although she has added a couple of doses of caution to her statements showing her intention to speak with the President of the Government about negotiations that PSOE and Junts are maintaining outside the set of partners of the investiture.

"Obviously, defendants in our country must have the right to a process with guarantees, with complete solvency, but there are also processes that are very complex, that require certain rhythms, means, investigations... that require a certain prudence" , he added, warning of the harmful consequences that the modification of the LECrim could entail.

In this way, Sumar has completed a 180ºC turn in its assessment of the possible reform of the LeCrim. On Monday, the spokesperson for the formation and Minister of Culture, Ernest Urtasun, welcomed the study and evaluation of the option launched by the president. And 24 hours later, both the spokesperson in Congress, Íñigo Errejón, and the deputy spokesperson and leader of En Comú Podem, Aina Vidal, showed their first, and lukewarm, disagreements over the possible "imbalance" that the reform of the law could cause in order to maintain guarantees and sufficient instruction times, without judicial investigations being lengthened for non-legal reasons.

The confirmation of the change, made official by Díaz, has only taken 24 more hours, leaving no support within the Government for the proposal considered by the PSOE to carry out the Amnesty law without changing the text despite the rejection it suffered last time. week with the vote against Junts, PP and Vox.
