David Madí ignores the 'Ambulance case'

David Madí denies the majority. His name appears in several pieces linked to corruption by 3% and on this occasion he has had to give explanations to the judge of the National Court Santiago Pedraz, for the irregular awarding of contracts to Ambulances Egara.

Both the Mossos d'Esquadra and the Civil Guard, who are carrying out the investigation jointly, and the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office suspect that this businessman and former CDC Communication Secretary had something to do, through his companies, to benefit from these contracts.

After several months of suspensions for various reasons, Madí finally sat down yesterday before Pedraz to deny any extreme or link with that contract.

What he did explain was that initially, in the moments prior to the award, he did make some movement through his company in case there was business interest in such award.

According to sources present at the interrogation, Madí pointed out to questions from the prosecutor that they did an analysis of the situation at both an economic and financial level and the granting of the contract in 2012 and it was decided to discard it.

Initially an option contract had been signed but in 2013 it was released because they were not going to exercise it, so it is absolutely detached from the final concession.

This case is investigating whether the Generalitat had awarded contracts to Egara ambulances irregularly. Since 2015, the company has been managing medical transportation in several areas of Catalonia.

Madi defended before the judge that she had no connection with this contract and denied having had any dealings in this regard with the then Health Minister, Boi Ruiz.

Anticorruption defends Madí's participation in this matter due to his relationship with Fermí Ferrán, administrator of Egara Ambulances and investigated in the case. According to Madí, he met him years after the granting of this contract. According to sources present at the interrogation, the prosecutor showed him an email in which Ferrán would acknowledge that she was his partner at that time.

As La Vanguardia has learned, the email is dated June 19, 2013, sent by Ferrán to a third person. "(...) The Indian boss is not my client either and therefore I don't give a damn if he works or not. Madí is my client and so is a former partner of his. I only try to take care of both of them. I What you have reported in the CF topic seems great and brilliant. I can have it published as long as my clients don't mind or don't believe that I'm doing it for free. My business is to be absolutely reliable for whoever pays me and of course effective. Regards."

However, Madí denied this and maintained before the judge, according to these sources, that he only knows him from playing for the Barcelona Football Club (FCB). The departure of the former right-hand man of the former president of the Generalitat Artur Mas is that it is a "falsehood", it is an email that "is not true" and that he has had the opportunity to talk about it with Ferrán and he has assured him that The content of this is due to a "hack".
