Coach Luis de la Fuente has called up Blaugrana Pau Cubarsí for Spain's friendlies against Colombia, in London on March 22, and Brazil, at the Santiago Bernabéu on March 26. Both matches will be the last test bed before the Euro Cup.
The Blaugrana center back, one of the revelations in Xavi Hernández's team, named MVP of the Champions League match against Naples, joins the novelty of Vivian (Ahtletic) and the return of Pablo Sarabia (Wolverhampton) and Gerard Moreno (Villarreal) .
Among the 26 called up there is no player from Girona, despite the good play of the team, second placed in the League. Aleix García had made his debut with the national team on November 16 against Cyprus.
Cubarsí's call for the first time with the senior team was considered certain, especially because his name did not appear on José Lana's list for the Elite Round of the U-19, a category in which the Catalan center back had been playing recently.
In the event that he makes his debut - as expected - against Colombia next Friday or on Tuesday the 26th against Brazil, Cubarsí will become the youngest defender to debut with the Spanish team.
