Common front without ERC in defense of Hard Rock

"In six years I have never seen so many people here...", said the president of the Tarragona Chamber of Commerce, Laura Roigé, after citing the entities and institutions that have already signed the manifesto in defense of Hard Rock. The chambers of commerce and fifty business associations, entities, mayors and mayors, mainly socialists and from Junts, have demanded "not to endanger this tourism project and promote the mechanisms to ensure their investment of one billion and the creation of 12,000 jobs direct and indirect work".

Neither the mayor of Tarragona, Pau Ricomà, nor the government delegate, Àngel Xifré, nor any other ERC official attended the act with which they wanted to stage the position of the territory in favor of Hard Rock. The project does not have the support of En Comú Podem or the CUP and in recent months and while the Generalitat's budgets are being negotiated, ERC has not made an explicit statement. In fact, the alarms about the future of this investment went off again a few days ago when it emerged that the next work meetings between the team that is developing the Urban Master Plan (PDU) and Hard Rock representatives have been cancelled.

The slow and complex processing of the future tourist complex, which was proposed ten years ago, suffered a new setback a few weeks ago with the unfavorable report from the Department of Climate Action, considering that the project -reviewed and provisionally approved after the ruling in against 2020 of the Superior Court of Justice - fails to meet the minimum requirements for environmental protection, one of the aspects denounced by the active Aturem Hard Rock Platform.

This morning, at the Tarragona Chamber of Commerce, fifty representatives of entities, companies, associations and institutions have ratified their support for this investment "because of the jobs it will generate and because it means extending the tourist season, not only with tourism sun and beach but also with other holiday tourism and compas with greater purchasing power; we do not want and cannot lose this opportunity", said Roigé.

The president of the Chamber has read the manifesto flanked by the mayor of Salou, Pere Granados (PSC) and the mayor of Vila-seca, Pere Segura (Junts). "We ratify that the implementation of Hard Rock Entertainment World is a strategic project for the Camp de Tarragona and Terres de l'Ebre", reads the manifesto that calls on the Government "to speed up the administrative procedures for the final approval of the Modification of the Master Plan Urban reorganization of the area of the CRT of Vila-seca and Salou, which has to allow the development of the Integrated Tourist Centers and the implementation of Hard Rock Entertainment World"

The event was attended by, among others, the representatives of the Business Federation of Hospitality and Tourism of Tarragona Province (FEHT), of various productive sectors of the territory such as CEPTA, AEHT, FEAT, AEQT, AEST, PIMEC, of the Xarxa Santa Tecla, from Port Aventura, from members of the chambers of commerce of Reus, Valls and Tortosa, from the Provincial Council of Tarragona and from Rovira i Virgili University. In addition to the mayors of Salou and Vila-seca, the mayors of La Canonja, El Vendrell, Perafort and Cambrils have also attended; the mayors of Junts in Reus and Tarragona, Teresa Pallarès and Jordi Sendra respectively; that of the PSC in Tarragona, Ruben Viñuales and also the former mayor Josep Fèlix Ballesteros, among others.
