The only councilor who until now maintained the Ciutadans brand in the Vilassar de Mar City Council, Juan Díaz, has opted for the same option as his colleague, Javier Conte and has gone over to the group of non-attached councillors, after resigning of the orange formation. Ciutadans sources attribute the casualties to the fact that they did not have them for the next candidacy in March 2023.
In a statement made public this Monday, entitled 'Goodbye Ciutadans' Juan Díaz, justifies his decision with the confirmation that "I no longer believe in the political project of Ciutadans" nor does he trust his managers and has lost hope that the party "can be useful again." He affirms that the orange formation is "anchored in the past" and regrets that the party's politicians have not been able to generate solutions and have opted "for confrontation".
The councilor also regrets that no one has assumed responsibility for "this mismanagement" and lists what for him are a concatenation of empty actions, "simple paripé, such as the refoundation" or the last assembly with framed candidates "for their easy election". An assembly that, according to Díaz, has shown "lack of leadership -in reference to Carlos Carrizosa- and of political strategy" for which he agrees that "I do not trust its managers and I have lost hope that Ciudadanos can be useful again" .
On the other hand, Ciutadans en Catalunya sources consider that the management's decision not to count on Díaz for the next municipal elections at the head of the electoral list, has determined his departure. The candidate of Citizens in Vilassar de Mar for the next elections will be Juan Luís Valverde.
