Churripi breaks an unbeaten record of 31 years in Spanish football

José Antonio Caro, nicknamed Churripi, the Burgos goalkeeper, surpassed this afternoon in Burgos-Tenerife of the SmartBank League in El Plantío the unbeaten record in goal held by Abel Resino, Atlético goalkeeper, for 31 years, seven months and 19 days. However, Caro will no longer be able to boast of going unbeaten any longer because he was unable to stop a penalty in favor of Tenerife in the 79th minute that Elady Zorrilla converted. The goal meant the victory of the chicharrero team and left Caro's mark in 1,294 minutes without conceding a goal.

The defeat drops Burgos from the first position in the table in favor of Deportivo Alavés. Burgos had not been the leader of the silver division of Spanish football for 21 years.

There are two nuances to assess Caro's record. Abel got it in the same season. Churripi in two seasons and in the current one he lost a game and part of another due to his expulsion against Mirandés.

Born in La Palma del Condado (Huelva) in 1994, Caro was trained in the lower categories of Sevilla and before arriving at Burgos, where he has a contract until 2024, he has passed Valladolid, Albacete and Ponferradina, always with good records .
