The interim period has been brief, as police sources already reported because the decision had been made. Barely twenty days after it became known that the former head of the National Police in Catalonia was heading to Madrid to take charge of the Judicial Police Station, the Ministry of the Interior has announced that it will be the main commissioner Manuel Rodríguez who will replace him.

Manuel Rodríguez was born in Madrid and joined the Higher Police Corps as an inspector in 1983. He began his professional career at the Higher Police Headquarters of the Basque Country, where he served in the Judicial Police Brigade; Later he was assigned to the General Operational Subdirectorate, in Madrid, and in 2001 he joined the General Commissariat of Citizen Security as head of the operational group of the Police in Transport-Mobile Brigade.

He was promoted to chief inspector in 2005 and was appointed head of the Subsoil and Environmental Protection section in this same general police station, where he served until 2008 when he was assigned to the Special Police Station of the Casa del Rey. In 2011 he became head of the Citizen Security Operational Section at the Adolfo Suárez-Madrid Barajas Airport.

After his promotion to commissioner in 2017, he took charge of the Office of the Director General of the Police. Since he was promoted to chief commissioner in 2023, he was the head of the Madrid Provincial Citizen Security Brigade.

Manuel Rodríguez Jiménez has a Degree in Criminology and has different decorations and recognitions for his professional career.
