Casa Bonay, a beach bar in the middle of Barcelona's Eixample

In Barcelona's Eixample, very close to Plaza Tetuán, an elegant building from 1869 – the former residence of the Bonay family, a family belonging to the Catalan bourgeoisie – has housed a beautiful boutique hotel since 2006, after being rehabilitated. Yes, it's been a long time, but it still retains that air of the old pensions in which the guests were considered almost family, in this case, it has been adapted to our days with a modern, elegant design and, in some areas, eclectic, but not lost on that age-old maxim of making everyone feel at home.

The 67 rooms are very bright and soundproofed and either have views of Gran Vía or a beautiful interior patio. They also retain some original elements, such as high ceilings and mosaic floors, which harmonize with current elements. It is the perfect combination of comfort and warmth.

Open to everyone, it tries to integrate with the neighborhood, it is not just for tourists, it offers a very diverse gastronomic proposal that encompasses different spaces; the Bonay Winery, with Mediterranean dishes to share, paired with an extensive wine list; the TosTao coffee shop; Libertine, a space full of sofas in which to work, hang out or read that adapts according to the time of day, from a tapas bar to brunch or cocktail bar, and even a music and dance room.

But don't miss the tropical terrace on the roof, decorated in the purest beach style with wicker lamps, raffia chairs and lots of green plants that bring freshness, making it the perfect refuge for those hot summer days.

The Chiringuito (that's what it's called) is open all year round as Barcelona's climate is good. It has an appetizing gastronomic offer based on the Japanese tradition of robata with Mediterranean overtones, which is combined with an exceptional wine list, craft beers and cocktails. They really like grilled sardines with bread and tomato, it is not surprising that customers come back whenever they can.

In addition, there is also an exclusive terrace for hotel guests, which is somewhat quieter.
