Camarero asks the Government to assume 50% of the Valencian dependency coverage

For the first time in its history, the dependency care system of the Valencian Community has exceeded the figure of 150,000 people served since the statistical registry began at the end of September 2015. Thus, the system reached 150,732 dependent people at the beginning of this month of March, which is 2,956 more than at the beginning of February, according to the latest monthly balance of the Second Vice Presidency and Ministry of Social Services, Equality and Housing of the Generalitat Valenciana.

The balance of the data presented by the Department headed by Susana Camarero includes the reduction of the waiting list by 2,001 people compared to the month of January, which represents a decrease of 10.2%, “the largest decrease in three years.” .

That is why the second vice president has once again demanded from the Government the contribution of the central government to the dependency system, "of the 50% that corresponds to it by law, and not the 21% of the year 2022 or the 15% that it contributed in 2021". The Valencian vice president maintains that "if the central Executive had complied, we would not be talking about waiting lists because this problem would be solved."

By province, of the 150,732 people served, 45,894 people reside in the province of Alicante, 17,282 in Castellón and 87,556 in Valencia. According to these data, during the month of February a total of 4,699 files of people requesting recognition of the dependency were resolved, 842 people more than the same month of the previous year.

In this regard, the second vice president and Minister of Social Services has highlighted the “effort that the staff” of her department is making to resolve the greatest number of files possible to incorporate new people and continue reducing the waiting list.

The 150,732 dependent people included in the system receive specialized care through residential or day services or a financial benefit for the service that the applicant and their family and the social work professional agree on as the best resource for the personal situation of the person. demanding.

Susana Camarero has insisted on the assessment that was made of the dependency system last July. It was necessary, she pointed out, “two credit extensions of 39.5 and 22 million euros to be able to reverse the situation and reverse the trend that existed in recent months with the Botànic Government.”

Thus, in the last seven months, his department explains that it has resolved a total of 21,288 files and has paid 347 million euros, from August to now, updating and paying the amounts of the benefits with the corresponding increases and arrears, according to with the new amounts agreed by the central government last August and assumed by the autonomous communities.
