'Bocanegra' who killed two people in Torrent and his mother is sentenced to 49 years in prison

The Fourth Section of the Provincial Court of Valencia has imposed sentences of 21 and 49 and a half years in prison on the three accused of the 'Bocanegra' dog - a married couple and their son - of the shooting death of two men and the injuries caused to a third party in the cemetery of the city of Torrent on November 1, 2021.

The sentence includes the verdict issued by a popular jury after the trial held last week for two crimes of completed murder, another attempted murder and a crime of illegal possession of weapons and establishes compensation for the victims and their relatives who rise in their together to a total of 568,180 euros.

The Court imposes sentences of 49 years and 6 months in prison on the perpetrator of the shooting and his mother, who provided him with the murder weapon moments before, as perpetrators of the four aforementioned crimes.

On the other hand, it sentences the third person involved - father and husband of the previous defendants, respectively - to 21 years in prison, as an accomplice to the three crimes of murder and author of the crime of illicit possession of weapons.

The events occurred around 10 a.m. on All Saints' Day 2021, when the couple and their son met another family that had distant relatives with whom they had had conflicts in the past. The accused began to yell at them and utter threatening expressions to get them to leave the place and even hit them with chairs and sticks.

At one point, as the sentence states, the now convicted woman took out a firearm that she had hidden in an apron and handed it to her husband so that he could shoot at the other family.

The man did not fire any shots because the gun fell to the ground, but his wife picked it up and gave it to their son. It was the latter who finally shot the victims, who were unarmed and without any possibility of protecting themselves.

One of the bullets caused the death of a member of the family by shooting and another caused injuries to the leg of a son of the previous one. In addition, a third projectile hit a man unrelated to the altercation, who was nearby visiting the grave of his wife, and caused his death.

The sentence is not final and can be appealed before the Criminal Chamber of the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community.
