Barcelona will host the Michelin Guide Spain 2024 gala tonight (already separate from the Portuguese edition of the red guide), in which it will announce its new distribution of stars. It will do so starting at 7 p.m. in the Auditori Fòrum of the Barcelona International Convention Center (CCIB) and the person in charge of acting as master of ceremonies will be the presenter and comedian Andreu Buenafuente. The gala will be broadcast in streaming from 6:30 p.m., through Michelin's official accounts.
It is not yet known if any new restaurant will join the three-star club tonight, although the pools suggest that there could be two, or even three, establishments that would debut the highest category on the list in the 2024 ranking. These could be distributed in different places in Spain, but the community that is believed to take center stage could be Andalusia, which currently has a single tri-star, Aponiente (Puerto de Santa María), by Ángel León.
After the gala, 12 chefs from Barcelona will be in charge of serving dinner to the attendees (about 700 people). The three-stars Jordi Cruz (Àbac), Sergio and Javier Torres (Cocina Hermanos Torres) and Paolo Casagrande (Lasarte) will captain the team and organize the menu.
They will be accompanied in the kitchen by Oriol Castro, Eduard Xatruch and Mateu Casañas (Enjoy); Raül Balam (Moments), David Andrés (Vía Veneto), Albert Adrià (Enigma), Albert Raurich (Dos Palillos) and Hideki Matsushi (Koy Shunka)
It is the second time that the red guide has chosen the Catalan capital to announce its cast of stars, which does not lead to the assumption that this city could be among the most awarded. We have to wait until tonight to discover who will be the restaurants distinguished with the highest Michelin score on this occasion.
