The Camp Nou currently impresses. Remember a ground zero, with the guts in sight. The Turkish company Limak, in charge of the reconstruction of the stadium, has been in the process of dismantling the facility for a few weeks now. A part of the stands is gradually disappearing and in the immensity of what had always been a green mantle a large expanse of land can be seen. The cranes are the owners of the place. But the old Camp Nou, which will give way to the new one, among other reasons for reasons of economic exploitation that will bring more benefits to the entity, has not yet said its last word.
It still has to be the source of a good amount of money for a club that if something needs today is that, oxygen injections for its coffers.
Before the last match played at the Camp Nou, on May 28 against Mallorca, the club announced the future marketing of different objects from the facility, from the stadium chairs to the grass and other elements, with which the public not to take the liberty of taking them home. It is what is known in slang as memorabilia, a word that appeals to the emotions, the habitual motor of the fan. The process is coordinated by the club through Barça Licensing
It is a project that has an emotional legacy side but also represents a new source of income. The club does not put figures on the operation and prefers to be prudent because there are no precedents of this type within the entity, but according to what this newspaper has learned, the sale of all objects related to the Camp Nou could bring in around 20 million euros. .
A few days ago the club's senior staff attended a meeting where they were able to see a sample of the products that will be on sale through the different Barça Stores and also, logically, globally on the Internet.
Among the star products there is one that the club hopes will be very successful. These are diamonds extracted from the last lawn of the old Camp Nou, specifically from its last mowing. The grass was bagged before starting a carbonization process in the laboratory. Later, once the grass has been converted into carbon, it is treated at very high temperatures, which simulate those of the center of the Earth, so that a diamond surface is finally obtained.
It is a process similar to that currently carried out with the ashes of the deceased, which can also be transformed into diamonds. Logically, depending on the carats, they will be marketed at one price or another. They are products that can range from about 300 euros to more than 13,000. In this way, Barça will be able to sell badges with the club's shield and an embedded diamond from the Camp Nou grass or sell, for example, a portion of grass from the stadium together with a small diamond.
Stadium memorabilia will range from seats to corner flags to goal nets and other iconic elements of the stadium. There will be a wide range of products, from small souvenirs to exclusive items that will be put up for auction.
The commercialization of the seats will first of all be addressed to Barça members, for whom a priority pre-sale phase will be launched, being able to access during this period to buy exactly the seat they occupied at the Camp Nou. Later, in a second phase, the seats will be put on sale to the general public.
To carry out the catalog and its subsequent commercialization, Barça plans to reach agreements with leading companies in the memorabilia sector that have already participated in operations of this type, for example with the sale of souvenirs from the Olympic Games. The old Camp Nou will be unforgettable.
