After the information published by La Vanguardia pointing out that the president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, sent to the Prosecutor's Office a letter in the case about the millionaire payments to the vice president of the Technical Committee of Referees, José María Enríquez Negreira, wrongly implicating the former presidents Josep Maria Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell, FC Barcelona has issued a statement in which it expresses its "anger, indignation and weariness", asks Tebas to "publicly apologize" and demands his resignation as president of LaLiga "for assuming functions that do not correspond to him , although also out of dignity and respect for the presidency of LaLiga".

Barça requests the resignation of Tebas for providing false evidence to incriminate the club

In the letter that Tebas sent to the Prosecutor's Office, he incorporated a handwritten document from the former Barça director Josep Contreras, now deceased, and to which he had access when he was investigated in the so-called 'Soule case', in which LaLiga exercises as a private prosecution.

Thebes related names or surnames that appeared in the Contreras document with Rosell and Bartomeu and from this he deduced that they could be involved in operations with real estate and movements in "financial institutions and investment banks."

"Neither this part has any speculative spirit, nor does this document imply the exercise of a specific accusation against anyone," says the president of LaLiga in his letter, although he immediately points out "that the names and surnames entered in the handwritten note may coincide with the names and/or surnames of certain former FCB directors".

It goes on to say that "with the name 'Román' accompanied by the word 'lawyer', a reference could be made to Román Gómez Ponti, the former head of FCB's legal services."

And he adds that "it cannot be ignored that the surname 'Rosell' coincides with that of the former FCB president between 2010 and 2014, just as the name 'Josep Maria' coincides with that of the also former FCB president Josep Maria Bartomeu Floreta , who was the club's chief executive between 2014 and 2020."

However, as this newspaper explained, the Contreras family has clarified that the true identity of the people mentioned in the document has nothing to do with the former presidents of Barça. They point out that the Josep Contreras document was written decades ago and the names indicated by Tebas refer to Emilio Román, Contreras' lawyer; Ramon Rosell, accountant of his companies; and Josep María was an employee of Banca Catalana responsible for the accounts of the deceased in the entity.

Faced with this situation, FC Barcelona accuses LaLiga of promoting "a media lynching with LaLiga behind the scenes fanning the fire against our club", insists that the entity "never bought the referees" and points out that the information published by this newspaper "is of a seriousness that should alert all LaLiga clubs, due to practices that have no fit". After requesting "his resignation as president of LaLiga", the statement added that "knowing his obsession with persecuting FC Barcelona and constantly showing his aversion and manifest antipathy towards our club, we understand that the current president of LaLiga will persist in his behavior of continuing hurting our club".

Given the seriousness of the information that appeared today Monday in La Vanguardia, in which the president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, is linked as the executor in presenting false evidence to the Prosecutor's Office to incriminate our club, FC Barcelona wishes to express its deep anger, indignation and weariness.

For this reason, we urgently require the president of LaLiga to appear publicly to offer explanations, beyond the tweet sent at dawn by Mr. Tebas with a threatening patina.

FC Barcelona, as president Joan Laporta has been saying in recent weeks, feels like the victim of a media lynching for events that have never happened: Barça has never bought referees.

A handful of media and opinion-makers have participated in this harassment with more or less bad intentions, and with LaLiga behind the scenes fanning the fire against our club, with contributions from its president that have only gone in one direction: trying to condemn us before public opinion before for the facts to be judged.

It is not the first time that the president of LaLiga has used all his media machinery to blow up FC Barcelona but, apart from his usual nonsense, we could never have imagined that he would have tried to incriminate our club with false evidence.

The news published today by La Vanguardia is so serious that it should alert all LaLiga clubs, due to practices that do not fit in with the functions attributed to the president of LaLiga.

Only for this fact, that of attributing functions that do not correspond to him, although also out of dignity and respect for the presidency of LaLiga, Mr. Tebas should resign from his function. However, aware of his obsession with persecuting FC Barcelona and constantly showing his aversion and manifest antipathy towards our club, we understand that the current president of LaLiga will persist in his behavior of continuing to harm our club.
