A mural that appears to depict the foliage of a tree behind a real trunk, which appeared during the early hours of Monday on the side of a residential building in north London, belongs to the mysterious street artist Banksy, as he confirmed this Monday.
The enigmatic graffiti artist claimed responsibility in a message posted on the Instagram platform following the wave of speculation surrounding the mural, located in the housing block on Hornsey Road, in the Finsbury Park neighborhood.
In statements to local media, residents of that neighborhood today were "proud and delighted" that the artist has chosen their street to exhibit his latest work.
For this work Banksy has chosen a bright green tone that seems to represent the leaves of a tree that is located right next to that wall. Next to the green leaves there is a painted person holding a pressure hose.
The color chosen is the same one used by the Islington district council - where the building is located - to mark the streets in the area.
Banksy usually confirms that he is behind his street murals by posting messages on his Instagram account and on his official website. Her last confirmed work prior to this appeared last December, when she drew military drones atop a traffic sign in the southeast London neighborhood of Peckham.
That work was removed less than an hour after Banksy's authorship was confirmed and two men were subsequently arrested on suspicion of theft and criminal damage.
