Arrested a man in Navès for illegally selling sheep

The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested a man from Navès, in Solsonès, for selling sheep without being identified and without having any health documentation.

The events took place on Tuesday, around 9:00 p.m., when the police learned that there were many movements of vehicles on a farm in Navès, something strange in that area. Upon arrival, the police observed a series of cars and vans leaving in a row along the track of the farmhouse. They stopped them and found live sheep tied by the legs in all of them. In total, 14 among five vehicles.

The animals had been bought at the farmhouse for 250 euros each. Upon reaching the corral, where there were more than 200 sheep, those responsible for the sale ran away.

None of the five drivers that the police stopped with the sheep inside had an animal transport license, nor were the conditions correct. For this reason, they denounced all the drivers for transporting live animals inside a car without having a license for this activity and with a vehicle that does not have the appropriate conditions to carry out this type of transport.

Next, they made them return to the farm and unload all the animals. There were more people waiting to buy sheep. The Mossos notified the veterinarians of the Department of Climate Action, Food and the Rural Agenda of Barcelona. In the corral there were more than 200 sheep.

The following day, the agents and the veterinarian from the Acció Climàtica department carried out an inspection of the facilities and of the herd. They also managed the transfer of the 203 sheep with a live animal transport truck to another livestock farm that meets the ideal conditions.

The agents, after different steps, located one of the perpetrators who was administratively denounced for not having the animals identified and not having the relevant health documentation.
