Aragonès raises the tone of his campaign and accuses PSC and Junts of lying

The dispute for the presidency of the Generalitat, on May 12, is a matter of three and Esquerra Republicana has tried to show its head and take the lead this Saturday against its competitors, PSC and Junts per Catalunya, distributing darts to each other and raising the tone in an event in front of the Arc de Triomphe, in Barcelona, to commemorate Republic Day. Thus, the leitmotiv of the rally has been to look for the seams of the rivals, especially that of the socialists, who already won in 2021, and to show chest for the action of ERC in the Government of the Generalitat.

In this sense, the president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, has pointed out that "Salvador Illa's project is Spain, Carles Puigdemont's is Carles Puigdemont and Esquerra's is Catalonia." The president, national coordinator of ERC, closed the interventions by claiming "responsibility" for his training.

"Out of responsibility we have remained silent, because we have preferred to be responsible than to respond to unjust accusations, because we had an objective," said Aragonès. "But today, before those who lie, before those who sell smoke and build houses of cards and those who want power to hand it over to the Moncloa, we have to speak," continued the head of the Catalan Executive, with allusions to socialists and post-convergents. , whom he has targeted throughout his speech.

Illa's conference on Thursday in which he promised more self-government and better financing has been the target of criticism from the president. "The PSC neither wants nor will it obtain better financing for Catalonia," Aragonès highlighted. "Their criteria will always be to follow the dictates of Moncloa, they are complicit in the economic asphyxiation of the country," he added. As proof of this, he has alluded to the State's budget execution in Catalonia and the problems of Rodalies.

Aragonès has also asserted that the socialists will not defend Catalan. "In their most institutional act, they change languages on the first try," he noted in relation to Thursday's conference, in addition to highlighting that the PSC calls for ending "linguistic immersion and imposing trilingualism." "The red stays orange," he said. "With the PSC, no language, no trains, no country. Without resources and without language there is no country," the president concluded the section criticizing the socialists.

The head of the Government has reproached JxCat, like the common people, for the "irresponsibility" of not supporting the budgets of the Generalitat last March. "The third time's the charm. Or maybe not. The people of ERC never give up, and if it's more difficult we continue," Aragonès stated, alluding to the return promised by Puigdemont and the departure of Junts from the Catalan Executive in October. 2022. "At the first difficulty they abandoned the Government," he continued. "His proposal is a name, ours is a country," he countered later, asking his former partners "not to mess up again."

In this same sense, the deputy general secretary of Esquerra and candidate for 12-M in the province of Lleida, Marta Vilalta, has spoken before, who has intervened together with the other two candidates, Raquel Sans and Laia Cañigueral, who head the lists of Tarragona and Lleida. "Neither personal projects that relegate people nor projects from the PSOE and Moncloa," Vilalta said, although she has gone further.

After expressing her chest about the pardons and the reform of the Penal Code and the elimination of the crime of sedition, in which according to the Republican spokesperson they felt "very alone" by not giving their vote in favor of JxCat in Congress, the Ilerda leader has asserted that Josep Rull is on the 12-M Junts lists and that Jordi Turull can campaign "freely" thanks to them. "Today we see how the third Junts candidate can be a candidate thanks to ERC. The general secretary of Junts can campaign for freedom thanks to ERC," Vilalta remarked.

The president of the party, for his part, has highlighted that ERC is the formation with "the most reprisals, the most exiles" and the one that has created the most positions for teachers, doctors, nurses and agents of the Mossos d'Esquadra. Likewise, he has asked his people for a "permanent campaign" until victory.
