Almeida considers it “incomprehensible” that the 2030 World Cup final will not be held in Madrid

The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, pointed out this Monday that “it would be incomprehensible” if the 2030 World Cup final were not played in the city of Madrid.

This was stated in statements to the media after inaugurating some sports courts in view of Morocco's intention to host the final of said World Cup, and he hoped that it would be held in the capital of Spain for several reasons.

Firstly, he commented, because “we are the world capital of football”, because “it was Spain that promoted the candidacy for the 2030 World Cup together with Portugal and, thirdly, because “obviously all the conditions are met in the city from Madrid".

For this reason, “I think it would be incomprehensible if the 2030 World Cup final were not played in the city of Madrid,” concluded the Madrid mayor.
