The world of cinema and television is once again in mourning. This Friday, January 5, we learned the sad news of the death of American actor David Soul at the age of 80. The artist became popularly known for his role as Detective Kenneth 'Hutch' Hutchinson in the 1970s police series Starsky.
The person in charge of communicating the loss of the interpreter was his wife, Helen Snell, through a statement. ''David Soul - beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother - died yesterday after a brave battle for life in the loving company of his family,' she began.
The wife of the late actor also wanted to have some last words for her husband, remembering the incredible career he had throughout his career in the world of acting. ''He shared many extraordinary gifts with the world as an actor, singer, storyteller, creative artist and dear friend. His smile, laugh and passion for life will be remembered by all the lives he touched,' Helen Snell concluded.
The artist, whose official name was David Richard Solberg, was born on August 28, 1943 in Chicago, United States, but in 2004 he obtained British nationality. His career in film and television began in 1967 thanks to his appearances on the television show The Merv Griffin Show.
At the beginning of the seventies he began to have small roles in different television series such as Star Trek: The Original Series, The Streets of San Francisco or My Beautiful Genius. However, her popularity took a U-turn in 1975 when she starred alongside Paul Michael Glaser in the legendary ABC series Starsky.
But his professional career was not only focused on television. Soul also had great roles on the big screen, including Magnum Force, where she shared the scene with Clint Eastwood, and Salem's Lot, based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King. One of his last appearances was in the film adaptation of the legendary Starsky series.
