A 28-year-old woman gave birth to her baby this Tuesday in the middle of the street in the Madrid district of Villaverde, where she was trying to catch a taxi when she went into labor.
The mother has been helped by an off-duty nurse who, coincidentally, was in the area. Everything has been so fast, that the baby has arrived in the world before even the Emergency services arrived.
“He has tried to catch a taxi but has not arrived on time. The nurse has collaborated during the delivery and before we arrived the birth had already taken place”, detailed the Chief of Guard of the Samur, Carlos Sánchez.
The unexpected birth occurred at 85 Villajoyosa street. The 28-year-old woman's water broke and contractions began without time to react. A nurse happened to pass by there, who helped the woman, who had little left to pay off.
Once notified by a neighbor, the Samur-Civil Protection toilets have simply proceeded to cut the umbilical cord. Both mother and daughter are in good health and have been transferred to the Maternity Hospital 12 de Octubre.
