A tornado in central France causes damage in several towns

Astonishment among the residents of Mayenne, in the Pays de la Loire region, at the formation of a tornado this Sunday afternoon. Méteo-France reported that the meteorological phenomenon formed around 5:00 p.m., when gusts of wind of up to 100 km/h were blowing in Ernée, causing damage to several buildings that collapsed without causing any casualties, according to sources from the Center opérationnel départemental d' incendie et de secaurs (Codis).

"We have carried out seven interventions, mainly in agricultural buildings that collapsed, including two with animals underneath," the same sources indicated. It was also reported that two homes were damaged.

Firefighters reported that this meteorological phenomenon did not cause any victims, although they noted that one person was taken to the hospital due to the "shock" he experienced after his garage collapsed on his vehicle. It was noted that the weather was once again calm in the area.

Mayenne is not included in the departments under orange alert, but is on yellow alert. Twenty-eight others in a large part of the west of the country, from Nouvelle-Aquitaine to Île-de-France, are on orange alert for thunderstorms on Sunday, fearing an "intense" episode with hail, gusts of wind and torrential rain.
