A minor died this morning in an accident on the local road GIP-5223, near the municipality of Riudaura (Garrotxa). The 20-year-old driver tested positive for alcohol and drugs and did not have a driving license. According to the Catalan News Agency (ACN), he would be treated as the victim's brother.
The events occurred this morning, around 06:35 at kilometer 1 of the road between Olot and Riudaura. For reasons that the Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating, the car overturned and the front passenger of the vehicle died as a result of the accident.
This is a young minor, a resident of the town of Montagut i Oix (Garrotxa). The driver, who, according to several sources confirmed to ACN, was the victim's brother, was slightly injured and was transferred to the Josep Trueta Hospital.
The young man, 20 years old, had never had a driver's license and gave a level of 0.60 mg/l expired breath in the breathalyzer test. He also tested positive for drugs and was arrested for manslaughter.
With this victim there are already 58 people who have lost their lives in traffic accidents this year on the interurban road network of Catalonia.
