A Local Police Officer from Mataró wins a National Award for standing out in road safety education

The agent responsible for the Security Training Unit of the Mataró Local Police (Maresme) has been awarded the Gold Medal at the VIII National Safety and Road Education Awards. He will receive the recognition during the IV National Convention on Road Safety of Local Police to be held in Madrid on October 24.

The Local Police agent responsible for the Safety Training Unit, Alejandro Anguita, has been awarded the Gold Medal at the VIII National Safety and Road Education Awards for having stood out in the development of his duties in this matter. The recognition, at the state level, will be awarded during the IV National Convention on Road Safety of Local Police to be held on October 24 in Madrid.

These awards are organized by Unijepol, the association that brings together the heads and commanders of local police forces throughout the State, in collaboration with the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) and the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT). Their objective is to publicly recognize the work carried out by individual members and local police services in the field of education and road safety, and to promote good practices carried out by municipalities and local police in this area.

The Local Police Security Training Unit offers a dozen different training courses aimed at all educational centers in the city and designed for different ages. In the field of road safety education, workshops on road safety and new mobility are planned; and alcohol, drugs and trafficking. In addition, training sessions are also offered on female self-defense, online safety, civility, bullying and coexistence, among others. In total, for this 2023-2024 academic year, 275 sessions have been scheduled for 7,700 students.

During the 2022-2023 academic year, the Local Police Security Training Unit carried out a total of 242 training sessions aimed at more than 6,300 students from 38 educational centers in Mataró.
