A judge could suspend Olona's candidacy five days before the elections

The candidacy of Macarena Olona (Vox) for the presidency of the Junta de Andalucía could be up in the air only five days before the date of the elections. The head of the Court of First Instance number 82 of Madrid will decide on June 14 on whether he suspends the candidate after having admitted a lawsuit against the far-right formation on Thursday.

According to the digital El Español, the lawsuit filed by the lawyer Pedro Muñoz Lorite asks the judge to annul several articles of the Vox statutes and its electoral procedure, considering that they violate the principles of democratic participation established by the Constitution for the parties.

The plaintiff also asks the magistrate that the judge suspend the appointment of the members of the candidacy for the Andalusian elections as a precautionary measure. The judge has called a hearing for June 14 to resolve these precautionary measures.

This demand bears no relation to the controversy that in recent weeks has surrounded the candidacy of Macarena Olona, who was accused of irregularly registering in the Granada town of Salobreña in order to stand for election. Olona, a native of Alicante, denounced a media campaign against her after these accusations and defended her right to present herself in Andalusia.

After the aforementioned municipality decided to process Olona's removal from the register, the controversy ended when the Electoral Board decided to allow the head of the Voz list to participate in the electoral battle. The Board assured that it found "no legal obstacle to the proclamation of the challenged candidacy", in this case, by the candidacy of Andaluces Levantaos, who filed an appeal by considering his padrón as "fictitious".
