A day skiing in Aragón, the snow paradise, to fill yourself with energy all year round

From the Pyrenees to the mountains of Teruel, Aragón offers a wide range of spaces in which to practice sports in the middle of nature: six alpine ski resorts and eight Nordic spaces and an unbeatable hotel and gastronomic offer. The six Aragonese alpine ski resorts total 395 skiable kilometers. They are Astún and Candanchú, in the Aragón valley; Formigal-Panticosa, in the Tena valley; and Cerler, in the Benasque valley. The mountains of Teruel are home to the winter centers of the Aramón, Javalambre and Valdelinares group.

Astún offers slopes for all levels of difficulty, with altitudes ranging between 1,658 m. and the 2,300 m. In total, 50 km. ski areas where you can feel the snow in its purest form and which explain why Astún has become a reference winter resort for the youngest and one of the temples of snowboarding in Spain without losing its character as a family resort. Its proximity to the historic city of Jaca, the beautiful monastery of San Juan de la Peña, and corners full of magic such as the Cueva de la Güixas, in Villanúa, together with the possibilities offered by its spectacular environment for practicing other sports ( hiking, climbing, horseback riding...) increase its attractiveness.

Just a couple of kilometers from the border with France, Candanchú was the first ski resort opened in Spain. Today is ideal both for getting started (the Pista Grande is one of the best areas in the country) and if you are looking to perfect your technique. The Candanchú Ski School offers courses for all ages. Almost all of its descents are mythical. El Tobazo is one of them and the Tuca Blanca, with its 2,400 meters, serves as the roof of the station. It can be combined with an excursion to Jaca, to the monastery of San Juan de la Peña, making a stop to tour the Canfranc International Railway Station, or to get lost in the Hecho and Ansó valleys, contemplate the Romanesque in towns like Borau and Siresa or in the Garcipollera valley.

Aramón Formigal-Panticosa is the largest ski destination in Spain and the great reference for winter sports lovers. Six valleys and 180 skiable kilometers to enjoy the snow in the spectacular Pyrenean environment of the Tena Valley.

Formigal is one of the liveliest resorts in the Pyrenees, and a reference center for white sport lovers. A stone's throw from Sallent de Gállego, it offers 137 km. skiable along four valleys. Access is easy and comfortable, it has four parking areas and a free bus service. During the day you can enjoy the multiple activities programmed on the slopes, constantly animated by the music of the best DJs and 28 restaurants. For the little ones, two ideal options: an igloo and an Indian village. And when night falls, snowmobile rides or dog sleds.

Panticosa is an ideal destination for family fun, although its offer is aimed at all types of skiers. With 39 km. skiable areas, it also has Panticosa Resort, much more than a spa. For children, in Lacuniacha (in Piedrafita de Jaca), the fauna park of the Pyrenees or Petrosos Park, a fun area for sledding and snow games.

To enjoy the longest descents in the Pyrenees, Cerler is the station. Located in the Benasque valley and surrounded by more than 60 three thousand mountains, the Aramón Cerler station impresses with its surroundings. It has the highest ski slope in the Pyrenees (1,130 meters) and 68 slopes suitable for different levels spread across two valleys (Cerler and Ampriu). The Ampriu sector also includes a marked circuit for ski touring and another for snowshoes. It also has the largest snowpark in Spain and, for the little ones, two sky areas and a snow garden.

The intense and dry cold that characterizes winters in Teruel allows the production of optimal quality snow both here and in Aramón Valdelinares. Whether you are starting from scratch or your goal is to improve your technique, Aramón Javalambre offers you personalized ski classes.

Aramón Javalambre is also committed to freestyle with the snowpark and a complete agenda of events related to this discipline. When night falls, the Gúdar and Javalambre mountain ranges are one of the best areas in Europe to contemplate the stars. They surround the station for almost 1,000 km. of signposted routes to dream places.

Aramón Valdelinares is the favorite resort for Valencian skiers, given its proximity, just an hour and a half away. It has a great area for beginners in the upper part of the resort and also more difficult slopes or the option of a sleigh ride or practicing freestyle in the snowpark. The surroundings of Valdelinares and Javalambre offer infinite attractions: a complete network of trails, charming towns and exquisite local cuisine that has its best exponent in the black truffle.

In the Nordic areas of the Aragonese Pyrenees you can practice activities such as cross-country skiing, snowshoeing or cross country in a dreamlike natural environment. Seven of them are in the Pyrenees: Llanos del Hospital (Benasque), Candanchú, Pineta (Bielsa), Balneario de Panticosa, Oza-Gabardito (facto valley), Lizara (Aragüés del Puerto) and Linza (Ansó). In the Sierra de Albarracín (Teruel), the Nordic space of La Muela de San Juan stands out.
