A tourist has died after falling from a cliff in Tossa de Mar when he wanted to take a picture. The events occurred on Saturday around midnight in the Futadera cove area. According to the Diari de Girona, the victim crossed a fence, slipped and fell into the void from a height of between 30 and 35 meters.

The GRAE firefighters rescued the tourist, who was unconscious, and he was transferred to the Josep Trueta hospital with the Maritime Rescue night helicopter. Later, after entering the hospital, the man died as a result of the seriousness of the injuries. The mossos, who opened an investigation, concluded that it was an accidental death.

The fatal victim is a French man over 30 years old who was on vacation in the area with his family. The notice of the accident was received this Saturday shortly after eleven thirty at night. Apparently, the tourist crossed a fence with the intention of taking a picture, slipped and fell into the void from a height of between 30 and 35 meters.

The event mobilized members of the Mossos d'Esquadra, the Local Police, the SEM, the Fire Brigade and Maritime Rescue. The Firefighters, who sent seven crews to the area, activated GRAE units -both terrestrial and underwater- to be able to rescue the victim, who had fallen in an area of ​​difficult access near the stairs that go down from the top of the cliff to the cove

After accessing the place where the tourist was, who was unconscious but breathing, the GRAE rescued him with the help of the Maritime Rescue night helicopter. The rescue was carried out late at night, around half past three at night. The victim was admitted to the Josep Trueta hospital in Girona, but due to the seriousness of the injuries he ended up dying.

The Mossos d'Esquadra, which opened an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the event, concluded that it was an accidental death.
