National Police agents have arrested 17 people in an operation against labor exploitation in horse riding centers in the Community of Madrid, in which a total of eleven horse riding centers were inspected, as reported by the body.

Specifically, eight businessmen have been arrested as allegedly responsible for a crime against the rights of workers and nine employees who were in an irregular situation.

In one of the centers, an unaccompanied foreign minor was also working. According to the same sources, the blocks housed kitchens that lacked any type of hygienic and sanitary control.

The investigation began in mid-February, after the agents learned that their workers could be exploited at some equestrian facilities.

In order to verify these facts, the agents of the Provincial Immigration and Border Brigade, in collaboration with the Provincial Labor and Social Security Inspectorate of Madrid, developed a control device on March 16 in eleven horse riding centers in different towns of the Community of Madrid, where a total of 25 companies carry out their activity.

The investigators were able to determine that the employers employed foreigners in an irregular situation, without processing the corresponding registration in the Social Security, thus favoring illegal immigration and submerged employment, and could also produce public treasury fraud.

As a result of the inspections, an unaccompanied foreign minor who was working in one of these facilities was placed under protection.

In addition, they located kitchens inside the blocks without any type of hygienic and sanitary control, where the workers were in subhuman and unsanitary conditions.

The device culminated in the arrest of a total of 17 people, eight businessmen as alleged perpetrators of a crime against the rights of workers and nine employees for violation of the Immigration Law.
