The option of the strike of the soccer clubs dissipates

The possibility of a club strike in the coming days dissipates. The Sports Commission of the Congress approved on Tuesday afternoon a final opinion of the sports bill with the votes of the PSOE and the abstention of the PP that contemplates two of the three main claims defended by Javier Tebas, the president of LaLiga. The opinion will now go to the plenary session of Congress for approval in the coming days.

The final opinion of the Commission was approved and the green light was given to an amendment to the PNV that opens the door to regional teams in international sports championships with "historical roots"; in this case Basque pelota and surfing.

Of the issues that most concerned LaLiga, in two of them the employers managed to get the PSOE and the PP to support their request against the initial text. Due to the first of the approved amendments, the employers will have legal certainty to continue with the exploitation of LaLiga assets. The agreement with CVC (not signed by Barcelona, Real Madrid and Athletic) was the main concern. By the second of the amendments they also manage to prevent the Federation from carrying out modifications in statutes and regulations without prior agreement with the employers of the clubs.

The issue that is not resolved in favor of LaLiga is that of the Superliga Barcelona and Real Madrid. LaLiga asked to be able to veto the clubs that join said project in its competition and that was not approved.

It now remains to know the final position of LaLiga, which has called an urgent assembly for this Thursday. Up to 39 of the 42 teams that make up LaLiga (all except FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Athletic Club) had rejected the text that was brought for approval by the Commission, a law that would replace the current one dating from 1990. LaLiga sources did not want to comment last night on whether the approved changes are enough to stop the strike: "We will analyze the final text in the different meetings scheduled this week," they said.

At the moment this Wednesday the Delegate Commission of LaLiga meets, formed by Sevilla, Betis, Real Sociedad, Cádiz, Villarreal and Getafe in LaLiga Santander; and Alavés, Tenerife, Eibar, Las Palmas, Lugo and Huesca in LaLiga Smartbank. Atlético and Levante will be represented by Gil Marín and Quico Catalán, first and second vice presidents, respectively.

The Federation is not in any case for the strike and has already made it known that it will send the referees to the matches and may sanction the clubs that do not show up. In addition, it is most likely that both Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Athletic Club did appear to play even if there was a strike.
