Wembanyama secures a full house on his Spurs debut

The San Antonio Spurs, a team from the NBA -the professional North American basketball league-, want their star signing of the season, the French center Victor Wembanyama, to play his first game with the Texan team this Friday against the Charlotte Hornets.

The journalist Marc Stein revealed this Wednesday on Twitter the plans of the Spurs for the number one of the last "draft" of the NBA.

The Spurs will play in Las Vegas on Friday against the Hornets in the NBA Summer League. The NBA announced Wednesday that all tickets for the game have been sold out. For their part, the Hornets could line up Brandon Miller, the number 2 in the draft.

It so happens that Wembanyama, 19, already played in Las Vegas last October in a friendly match between the center's then team, the French Metropolitans 92, and Ignite of the G League, the development league of the nba.

In that game, Wembanyama faced Scoot Henderson, number 3 in the draft. The French center, 2.26 meters tall, dominated the match by being the top scorer and rebounder with 36 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and four blocks. Henderson, who only played 4.37 minutes, had a rebound and an assist.

In an interview released this Wednesday by the San Antonio Spurs, Wembanyama explained why he has adopted the number 1 for his Texan team jersey. "It is a mentality. For me there is no other option than to be number one. I cannot accept being behind another and not being the best", declared the player.
