Van Aert, Van der Poel and Pidcock, new fight for the cyclocross throne in Benidorm

The Belgian Wout van Aert of Visma-Lease a Bike will be on Sunday, January 21 at the UCI Cyclocross World Cup – Benidorm Costa Blanca, which will thus host a new edition of his epic duel with the world champion, Mathieu Van der Poel , and with Tom Pidcock, Olympic mountain bike champion.

The Dutch Van der Poel, Van Aert and the British Pidcock, whose rivalry in recent years has become legendary, have only crossed paths this season on four occasions, with victory in all of them for the first of them and three second places for the Belgian. The three cyclists will repeat their participation in the event compared to last year, in which the Dutch rider won in a tight finish over the Belgian.

“Having the 'Big Three' is the best gift from the Three Wise Men that we could dream of,” said Pascual Momparler, head of Momparler Cycling, organizing company of the UCI Cyclocross World Cup – Benidorm Costa Blanca.

“They are cyclists who need no introduction: world champions, Olympic champions, with medals in all disciplines… We are talking about idols who have hooked many fans on this sport,” added Momparler, who highlighted that the confrontation between these cyclists will be “the last duel.” of the campaign, because not everyone goes to the World Cup.”

“We are fortunate to have a top-level cyclocross event in Spain and to be able to see the best cyclists in the world in it,” said the organizer.
