Pep Guardiola: "What a hell of a way to lose"

Pep Guardiola, Manchester City coach, assured that they gave everything against Real Madrid, but that it was not enough against the white team, which beat them in the penalty shootout to qualify for the semi-finals and what the coach described as "what a better way hell to lose."

"I would have preferred to win, of course. First of all, I would like to congratulate Real Madrid for qualifying for the semi-finals. Madrid defended very far back, with a lot of solidarity. We gave everything, I don't regret anything. We have done everything, both defensively and offensively. That's what there is," Guardiola said at a press conference.

"The three games have been very similar, they have defended further back, we have created many opportunities, but this is about scoring goals. They will be in the semi-finals and we will not, due to small details. Sometimes you win the penalties, sometimes not. No "We have converted the opportunities we have had. We have all been at the best level, to beat Madrid you have to be at 100%, we have been, but it has not been enough."

"I don't judge. It's Carlo's decision," said the Spanish coach about Ancelotti's defensive approach. "In another sport, statistically, we would have won, but football has this wonderful thing about it."

"I, as a coach, can only ask this of my players. Of course I give credit to Madrid, they have been able to hold on and resist. We have faced many closed teams and we always found a way to find a gap, today we missing".

"Luck does not exist and I agree. We have not managed to score a goal. We have done everything. What a hell of a way to lose. Today it hurts, but tomorrow we have to get up and continue. We can't always win."
