Negreira's son to the referees: "I feel disappointed, deceived and empty"

Javier Enríquez, son of José María Enríquez Negreira, sent a WhatsApp message to several Spanish soccer referees in which he refers to the controversy over his father's case.

Enríquez regrets that they judged him beforehand, although he makes clear his good relationship with the referees and points out that it hurts that some were "splashed" in a communication to which Mundo Deportivo had access.

The 'letter' begins with the explanation why he had not been in contact before, and with his opinion from Luis Medina Cantalejo, the current president of the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA), and from Carlos Clos Gómez, responsible for the VAR in Spain.

"Until now I have not written because seeing the attitude of the CTA and your president, I know that he committed you to it. By the way, you should know that the same day the news came out I contacted Luis Medina Cantalejo and Carlos Clos Gómez , to explain everything I knew, trying to clarify and help as much as I could. Of course, he did not dare to ask me, he preferred victimhood, and participate in the lynching and popular trial."

Enríquez also highlights in his message the cordial relationship he maintains with the referees and the "shows of respect, affection and trust". "Although among the referees there is everything, and I also feel somewhat disappointed, deceived and empty. Especially by some who thought you knew me well. From the beginning you have been victims of the fear with which arbitration grows and you have prejudged as the world of football has always done with you, unfairly", he maintains.

Negreira's son also clarified that the reason why he has not publicly denied anything is because he does not consider it necessary.

"In your case, it hurts me what the whole case has splashed you. Imagine how I am living it... With regard to me and everything that has united us, you can be absolutely calm and confident. It is true that I have not publicly denied the a lot of falsehoods, assumptions and nonsense that have been published, but I was confident that for many it was not necessary to do so. It is also possible that they have made you confuse technical reports with espionage, or mental preparation with persuasion and corrupt influences... I find it pathetic ".

He continues to talk about the confidentiality of his work and makes himself available to the referees.

"My work has always been confidential. I have never shared who I work for (players, coaches, referees and/or clubs). Until now, reading the press and listening to fools install ideas in your head, you had an excuse to think badly of me, now I have already told you the truth, and only you are responsible for thinking badly. My phone has always been and will continue to be available to those I care about, not to the press. Ask me what you want."

Already at the end of the message, Enríquez hints at his discomfort with his father: "When everything is over I will be delighted to receive a message from you, I don't know if it will be of affection, an apology or what... but it will be well received. I plan to continue trusting the people as I have always done. (Maybe I don't trust one in particular, but that's a family matter.) By the way, in case you still haven't realized "I'm not a Negreira either". are".

Javier Enríquez was recently indicted by the court investigating payments from FC Barcelona to his father José María Enríquez Negreira and joined the already indicted former Barça presidents Sandro Rosell and Josep Maria Bartomeu, the former executive director of the club Oscar Grau and the former director of professional sports Albert Soler, as well as Enríquez Negreira himself.
