Luis Enrique's PSG continues to strengthen: Lucas Hernández, signed

PSG announced this Sunday the hiring of French international defender Lucas Hernández, who arrives after spending four seasons at Bayern Munich. The defender is the fifth addition to the French team since the hiring of Spanish coach Luis Enrique Martínez was announced last Wednesday.

Hernández was the most expensive signing in the history of Bayern, after paying 80 million, and now he is leaving the Bavarian club through the back door for an amount of 40 million, according to L'Équipe. The Parisian club had previously announced the signings of Manuel Ugarte, Kang in Lee, Marco Asensio and Milan Skriniar.

The arrival of the defender was announced through a direct from PSG on social networks in which the player appeared for just a few seconds to sit at a table and stamp his signature that links him with the French entity until 2028. "It's done. I'm Parisian," Hernandez said before getting up and leaving. The player was world champion with France in 2018, although he was unable to play the 2022 final due to injury, which the Blues lost on penalties to Argentina.

During the World Cup in Qatar, he suffered a torn internal ligament in his right knee in the first game against Australia, which caused him to miss the rest of the tournament and the season with his club. Hernández, 27, plays either as a left-footed central defender (his usual role at Bayern) or as a left-back, the position he traditionally occupies for the French national team.

The incorporation of Hernández allows PSG to take an important step in strengthening its defense, even more so with an experienced but still young man who adds French pedigree to a club sometimes criticized for the excess of foreigners in its ranks.

In addition to the 2018 World Cup with France, Lucas Hernández, won a Champions League with Bayern in 2020, in a final won precisely against PSG. The French champion plans to resume training on Monday, in his new sports city of Poissy.
