In the midst of a legal and media tsunami caused by the Negreira case, the president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, took advantage of an act together with the captains of all the professional teams and the lower categories to defend the club from the serious accusations that it is receiving. And that is why Barça is admired and recognized all over the world”, he assured.
“Barcelona sentiment cannot be bought or sold; but it doesn't get dirty either”, he blurted out before addressing the auditorium: “I take advantage of the fact that people who love the club are gathered. Recently we are receiving some ferocious attacks to dirty our shield, which have nothing to do with reality." "Some, motivated by envy, try to erode our reputation with campaigns carried out in bad faith", he added before assuring: "They will not succeed because the captains of Barça represent our values and our feelings and you show it in the playing field when you leave your skin and every last drop of blood”.
This same Monday the Higher Sports Council (CSD) has announced that it will also appear as an accusation in the Negreira case, following the steps previously taken by the First Division clubs that Real Madrid joined yesterday. Also today it has been known that the Prosecutor's Office has requested that the former FC Barcelona coaches Ernesto Valverde and Luis Enrique Martínez appear as witnesses in the case. In the midst of all this information, Laporta insists: "You can be sure that the board of directors that I have the honor of chairing will defend Barça with all our might."
