Bordalás will take charge of Getafe until the end of the season

After midnight, the new Getafe coach, José Bordalás, took a small crowd bath after leaving the offices of the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez, where he concluded negotiations with president Ángel Torres to start his second spell at the azulón club, in need of their services to save the category.

Almost a hundred Getafe fans waited in the Getafe stadium car park for the departure of their new coach. After the dismissal of Quique Sánchez Flores last Thursday after the defeat against Almería with which Getafe was placed in the relegation zone, the arrival of Bordalás has generated tremendous excitement among fans in need of happiness.

Bordalás left the offices of the Azulón club in a car surrounded by a corridor of fans who celebrated the return of their coach with the song that became famous at the Coliseum between 2016 and 2021, a five-year period in which he managed to promote Getafe to the First Division and lead him to the Europa League in five historic seasons.

Again the "Bordalás, Bordalás, Bordalás I love you" was heard in tribute to a coach who will have the difficult task of saving Getafe in the last seven days of LaLiga Santander and who left a spectacular image rarely seen in the Azulón club. Never before has a coach been received like a star by his fans, who colored Bordalás' exit from the Coliseum with various flares that shone at night in the southern city of Madrid.

Earlier, around 10:00 p.m., Bordalás was also received by his fans when he arrived at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez offices to close his agreement with Ángel Torres. A little more than a dozen fans stopped the car of the azulón coach and encouraged the coach who they hope will be his savior.

In this way, Getafe closes 48 frantic hours in which Quique Sánchez Flores was dismissed after losing 1-2 against Almería and was replaced at first by Rubén Reyes, sports director of the azulón club.

Faced with Bordalás's first refusal to take over Getafe's reins, Reyes was chosen to lead Getafe towards salvation. First thing in the morning on Friday it was officially announced that he would occupy the Getafe bench and then led his first training session.

However, Ángel Torres, in a turn of events, tried again to hire Bordalás, whom he finally convinced to accept the position. The Getafe coach traveled from Alicante to close the negotiations and was received by his fans as the savior of a very complicated situation.

Now, he will have to face the first of the seven finals ahead of him. Getafe will visit the RCDE Stadium this Sunday to face a direct rival like Espanyol in a life or death duel. Later, they will face Celta at the Coliseum, visit the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, receive Elche, travel to Seville to face Betis and close the League against Osasuna at home and against Valladolid in Zorrilla.
