Barça confirm Juventus' intention to leave the Super League

Barça has confirmed the intention of Juventus Turin to leave the Super League, now only publicly supported by the Barça club and Real Madrid, with its president Florentino Pérez at the helm. The Italian entity communicated this past Tuesday to its partners until now that it has begun the procedures to exit the project.

"FC Barcelona confirms receipt of the communication signed by Mr. Gianluca Ferrero, current president of Juventus Turin yesterday, June 6, 2023," the Catalan club said in a letter, which "will maintain the strictest confidentiality regarding future talks" with the vecchia signora in order to find a solution in accordance with "legal and contractual obligations".

The club chaired by Joan Laporta also recalls that the project, created on April 19, 2021 and criticized by the various football rectors, including UEFA and the Spanish LaLiga, "is currently in the midst of legal proceedings pending resolution for part of the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg and submitted to the protection of justice in Spain".

In this way, Barça ensures that the court ruling, scheduled for the "next months", "will be essential to guarantee the necessary legal certainty in terms of the adequate and correct interpretation of the legal framework of professional football in Europe", in addition to determine "the definitive position of FC Barcelona on this matter".
