The PP wins the 23-J in the Valencian Community but the PSOE rises compared to 2019

The PP would win the general elections in the Valencian Community with 13 deputies and the recently formed Popular Council and Vox would maintain the institutional hegemony achieved on March 28. With 99% scrutinized, the popular ones would achieve 13 deputies (five more than the 8 that it obtained in 2019). Vox, on the other hand, would get around 15% of the votes – a better result than in the regional elections – but would lose two seats and keep 5. Despite this, the right would add 18 of the 33 seats at stake in the Valencian Community.

In the block on the left, the PSOE improves the results of four years ago and reaches 11 seats. Sumar-Compromís reach 4; it should be noted that separately Unides Podem achieved 4 and Compromís 1. Thus, the left remains at 15 to the 18 of the conservative forces. In November 2019 there were 17 for the right and 15 for the left (there was one less deputy at stake).

By provinces, the PP wins in Valencia and Alicante. In the most populated it remains with 6, for the 5 of the PSOE, the three that Sumar Compromís manages and the two of Vox. In Alicante, the count is similar: PP (5), PSOE (4) and here Vox is ahead of Yolanda Díaz's brand and gets two for Sumar's 1. He also achieved the fifth deputy for Castellón and tipped the balance to the right. In the smallest of the provinces of the Valencian Community, the two big parties are left with two seats each.

If the data is compared with those of less than two months ago now, it is observed how the PP loses some support (it goes from 36.2% to 34.8%), which are the points that Vox gains, which went from 12.7% to 15.58%. The historical trend is broken and the popular ones fail to improve the results of 28-M in the nationals.

The PSOE does achieve the effect of the useful vote, which grows from 29% to 32%. In the regional elections, separately, Compromís and Unides Podem went above 20% and now together, in a complicated campaign, they remain somewhat above 15%.

With the scrutiny, it is confirmed that the PP has not managed to get close to the desired million votes, but it has exceeded 900,000 ballots (584,000 in 2019); but the PSOE has also improved a lot compared to the previous general ones, going from 700,000 in 2019 to more than 844,000.

The 23-J confirms the strength of the PPCV but also that the left continues to have muscle in the Valencian Community despite the institutional debacle of the past 28-M.
